Wakefield Bondholders First Friday Breakfast by Wakefield Bondholders

Join the Bondholders for the May First Friday Breakfast Event not to be missed! Come along for the Northern Capital of Culture hosted by Wakefield Town Hall in the Kingswood Suite.

Come along for breakfast with the Bondholders and Find out how Wakefield will look to drive forward a culture led approach to regeneration and become a creative district of the North of England.

Early 2019 saw Wakefield has beat off stiff competition from across the country to get a £4.4million boost to support the growth of its cultural and creative industries and the creation of a home-grown highly skilled creative workforce.

Wakefield Council’s bid was one of only five in the country to be successful in getting a slice of the £20m Cultural Development Fund, in the first Government investment of its kind.

The funding, which was confirmed by Jeremy Wright MP, Secretary of State for Digital Culture, Media and Sport on Friday 18 January, is another step towards achieving the Council's ambitious plans for Wakefield to become the creative hub of the North.

Hear Julie Russell, Service Director for Wakefield council discuss the significant marks that the district is already making in the culture and creative world and how the fund is bringing together major creative, digital and cultural partners to drive the transformation forward.

Julie will also discuss the wider Council approach to engage the district in creativity and how the new DCMS multi-million pound investment aims to drive investment to create jobs in the sector through re-thinking the support for both new and established creative businesses, nurture new creative talent, and help develop new skills to create a strong inclusive and creative workforce.

Find out key information of the plan which will deliver an exciting and innovative new hub created in Wakefield city Centre to provide a home for established entrepreneurs and new businesses, providing skills training for students and space for artists.
