The Ossett-based schools milk supplier has received £75,000 of funding from Finance Yorkshire's business loan fund to support its growth strategy

Fresh Pastures CIC recently entered into a new contract to supply dairy products to organisations across Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Greater Manchester and will use the funding to fulfil its working capital requirement.

Graham Morley, Managing Director of Fresh Pastures CIC, said:

“I am delighted that we have been awarded the loan funding. It will enable us to further our presence across the UK and will hopefully allow us to increase our staff number.”

Founded in 2006 by husband and wife team Graham and Sharyn Morley Fresh Pastures CIC was one of the first Community Interest Companies (CICs) in the country, and the first dairy CIC in Europe.

Fresh Pastures CIC delivers 150,000 products from around 200 different lines of dairy produce and morning goods to circa 3,100 establishments every day using vehicles that meet the Euro 5 European Union emissions standards. Any profit made is ring-fenced for community benefit and is ploughed back into the company. The company only uses milk supplied by local dairies, thus reducing greatly the amount of food miles associated with the finished product.

In addition Fresh Pastures CIC is a local employer recruiting from the local labour pool, working closely with Jobcentre Plus, Wakefield Disability Action, Mental Health Matters and other charities in order to place long term unemployed or disabled people in sustainable jobs.
