Wakefield District Business Awards

The first Wakefield District Business Awards celebrate the individuals and companies who are helping to make the District one of the most dynamic in the region. Despite the economic downturn Wakefield has been named one of the UK's Top 20 Locations for Business Growth (Royal Mail Business Barometer 2008.)

Wakefield District Business Awards 2009

 

The 2009 Awards featured nine diverse categories (see below) that were open to all organisations throughout the Wakefield Metropolitan District, from sole-traders to multi-nationals.

 

The Awards culminated in a spectacular gala dinner and presentation ceremony at the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield on Thursday 16th July 2009.

Business Awards
The Business of the Year Award 2009

1. The Business of the Year Award 2009, Sponsored by Wakefield Council

Open to all companies in the District, this Award will go to an outstanding business that demonstrates all-round excellence and achievement. The winning company must be able to demonstrate success, innovation and ethics within its sector, proving that it is a market leader and worthy winner of this prestigious title

 
The People Make Performance Award

2. The People Make Performance Award, Sponsored by Wakefield College

Skilled and committed people are at the heart of every successful organisation. This Award will recognise the company that can best demonstrate excellence in the development of its people

 
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award

3. The Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Sponsored by first

This Award will reward the talent and flair of an outstanding entrepreneur in the Wakefield District. We will be looking to celebrate the achievements of one individual whose vision and energy has been instrumental in a business success story

 
The Innovation in Business Award

4. The Innovation in Business Award, Sponsored by Minster Law

The Innovation in Business Award will recognise the organisation that has implemented the most innovative new project, product or service, significantly improving the organisation's commercial success

 
The Business and the Environment Award

5. The Business and the Environment Award, Sponsored by VT Environmental Engineering

This Award will reward the company most actively committed to sound environmental practice as well as cost saving in the workplace, whilst demonstrating a commitment to protect substantial resources for future generations

 
The New Business Award (businesses started since 1st January 2007)

6. The New Business Award (businesses started since 1st January 2007), Sponsored by Business Link

Start-up businesses are the lifeblood of a District's economy and Wakefield is no exception. This Award will go to an organisation started since 1st January 2007 that is succeeding through the implementation of good ideas, careful planning and a determination to succeed

 
The Community Enterprise Award

7. The Community Enterprise Award, Sponsored by Barclays

This Award will bring to the fore those enterprises that are making the biggest difference to their local community through innovative and dynamic programmes, while at the same time achieving commercial success

 
The International Business Award

8. The International Business Award, Sponsored by HARIBO

Success in penetrating overseas markets helps promote the Wakefield District to a worldwide audience, and as the global economy becomes increasingly important winning this Award will demonstrate how your organisation stands out in the international arena

 
The e-Business Award

9. The e-Business Award, Sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence

This Award will recognise a business that has implemented new technologies to change the way they do business, increasing sales and efficiency and improving the overall performance of their organisation
